Salvatore Martinez (Enna, 1966) is the first lay person at the presidency of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Italy ((Rinnovamento nello Spirito Santo )). He conducts an intense editorial activity. He has already published 25 books, among these one edited by St. Paul’s: “Sospinti dallo Spirito” in May 2014, with a large editorial diffusion in all the newspaper stands in Italy. (it has been the second book in the list of all books sold in the catholic bookshops; and among the first 100 most sold books of the Italian editors). The book is now being translated into Spanish, English, Portuguese and French. His last book edited by RnS Papa Francesco e lo Spirito Santo. Novità, armonia, missione” (Pope Francis and the Holy Spirit. Novelty, harmony, mission) was among the most appreciated religious books at the recent International book fair of Frankfurt. Some his books have been translated into English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Polish and Mandarin. He is an expert in sacred music, and composer of songs used in the liturgical repertoire, which are recorded in more than 20 musical productions for choir and orchestra, translated and used in many parts of the world. He collaborates with Italian and foreign magazines on themes of spirituality. He is very much involved as a conference speaker, he has spoken in thirty-five Countries on all five Continents on spirituality with special emphasis to youth, families and priests, to the promotion of the laity, to social discomfort, the social doctrine of the Church, invited by Bishops’ Conferences, by social and cultural institutions and bodies. == Biography == He is the first lay person at the presidency of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Italy (Rinnovamento nello Spirito Santo) since 1997, married to Luciana Leone. The Renewal in the Spirit in Italy is a private association of faithful whose Statutes have been recognized by the Italian Episcopal Conference and the Holy See. It has about 1900 Groups and Communities in Italy, with over 250.000 members (about 300 groups in Sicily with over 20.000 members), nine Missions outside Italy (among which the Republic of Moldova, the poorest country of Europe, Israel, Jordan), four national residential Schools of formation, a Publishing House, a Foundation for the promotion of socially useful projects, a Society of services for the organization of Events. A graduate in Paleography and Musical philology with highest honors at the University of Pavia, with a thesis of specialization on the history of the Pontiffs of the first millennium. He is Consultor of three Pontifical Dicasteries. In March 2008, Pope Benedict XVI nominated him Consultor of the Pontifical Council for the Laity,〔(Consulter of the Pontifical Council for the Laity )〕 an appointment that was renewed by Pope Francis in 2013 ad quinquennium. In September 2009 Consultor for the Pontifical Council for the Family〔(Consulter of the Pontifical Council for the Family )〕 renewed by Pope Francis in 2014 ad quinquennium. From April 2012 Consultor for the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization.〔(Consulter of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization )〕 He is President of the Vatican Foundation “International Center Family of Nazareth” founded on October 17, 2012 by Benedict XVI, with juridical canonical public and Vatican civil personality, for the development of the Magisteriumof the Family in the world, with a special mandate to build and manage the “Home of the Pope for the families” at Nazareth,〔(International Center for the Family in Nazareth )〕 as an ecumenical and interreligious way of dialogue of peace in the Middle East (a wish of Pope John Paul II announced at Rio de Janeiro in 1997, and renewed by Benedict XVI in 2009〔(International Center for the Family )〕 and by Francis in 2014 in occasion of the papal trips to the Holy Land). He has carried out the roles of teaching and consultant for the Pontifical Universities in Rome and in some countries of the world. He is a member of ICC (International Charismatic Consultation), an ecumenical organization which brings together the principal Christian charismatic leader in the world (representing over 400 million Christians). He is a founding member of the Committee and of the Association “Scienza e Vita”〔(Founding member of the Committee and the Associazione Scienza e Vita )〕 (it brings together all the bodies of Christian inspiration in the bioethical field). A member of the Directive of the “Forum of Family Associations” which brings together 52 Associations, Bodies and Institutions linked to the promotion of the family. Since 2011 until 2014 he has been member of the Office of the presidency of “Rete in Opera”〔(Member of the Board of Presidency Rete in Opera )〕 which brings together the 18 principal catholic organizations or of Christian inspiration who operate in the social field in Italy. From 2000 he is President of the Foundation, Institute of human promotion "Mons. Francesco Di Vincenzo",〔(President of the Foundation, Institute of human promotion Mons. Francesco Di Vincenzo )〕 a corporate body to work for the integration of social formation which are the foundation of human dignity (Church, family, education, work), which has given birth to “Polo di eccellenza della solidarietà e della promozione umana «Mario e Luigi Sturzo»”, a social work for the redemption of prisoners and their families. This very Foundation Mons. F. Di Vincenzo has given life to has given birth to Foundation “Casa Museo Sturzo” (recognized by the Regional of Sicily as a private Museum of regional interest) of which Salvatore Martinez is President, situated in the stately mansion of the family in the historical center of Caltagirone (the property belongs to the grand nephew Guglielmo Sturzo) e to ANRel (a National Agency for reinsertion and work dedicated to prisoners and ex prisoners). President of the Foundation “Alleanza del Rinnovamento nello Spirito” and of the Foundation Moldova “Alleanza del RnS” for the social promotion of migrant women and of abandoned children, in agreement with the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova. From the year 2002 he coordinates the Italian Delegation which participates at the “National Prayer Breakfast” in Washington D.C., this year in its 63rd edition. On the morning of February 4, he was the only European, Christian, to speak at the session dedicated to the Middle East, together with three Jewish and Muslim speakers from Israel, Palestine and Jordan. He spoke on the theme, “Pope Francis, Family and the Middle East”. The NPB is the biggest worldwide gathering of leaders (by invitation only from the Senate and Congress of the USA; every year the President and the vice President - in Office - are always present) who recognize in Jesus a “model” for politics which places man at the center, the ideal of peace, and of solidarity among the Nations, whatever be their profession of faith, or of their belonging to a religion. Over 150 Countries are represented. International vice president of YAI (Youth Arise International), a project of education towards evangelization mainly to youth (over 50 Countries participate with special animated events on the eve of the WYD with the Pope). He took part, nominated by the Pope, as an auditor, at the synod on the “New Evangelization”〔(Auditor at the XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops held in October 2012 )〕 from October 7 to 28, 2012. He was part of the delegation of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem on the invitation of the authorities of Israel, Jordan and Palestinian, on the occasion of the visit of Pope Francis to the Holy Land in May 2014.
